Endo won’t treat subclinical hyperthyroidism

Post Body

I was diagnosed with subclinical hyperthyroidism last year after labs revealed that my TSH was low and T3 and T4 levels were normal. I was having symptoms at the time such as insomnia, hot flashes, breaking out in hives while anxious, and hair loss. I saw a ARNP at an endocrinologist clinic and was told that “subclinical disorders don’t usually cause symptoms so what I’m experiencing is probably something else”. She also said she was very hesitant to prescribe any meds because supposedly that might cause me to develop hypothyroidism. I had more testing done and all of my thyroid antibodies are normal. So…I don’t haves Graves disease or Hashimotos. I also don’t have thyroid cancer. I might have a nodule causing my symptoms but I think it’s unlikely given that I’m negative for antibodies. So…I’m thinking I have low TSH from having COVID. I’m planning a pregnancy and frustrated that I’m not able to properly treat this. I’m trying herbal supplements such as bugleweed and lemon balm but I think these might cause more problems if I discontinue them. I’m also continuing to lose hair and I have bald spot on the sides of my head. Nothing helps with that, not even steroid cream.
