I was diagnosed with a 2.2cm papillary thyroid cancer back in September and had a total thyroidectomy at the end of September. I found out that there were 7 positive lymph nodes out of 9, with one node being 0.3 cm in size and became extremely anxious to do the RAI as soon as possible. I was finally able to book the radiation scan for late Nov and I was just forced to cancel the appointments due to a possible stomach ulcer that has been causing immense pain and suffering. I will probably need an endoscopy and further assessment before I can do the RAI, but because of the holidays I'll have to wait almost 4 months after my thyroidectomy for RAI and I'm so anxious about spread, etc. should I just book an earlier RAI appointment and push through the ulcer pain? Has anyone had the similar experience of waiting longer for RAI than expected?
I totally understand how stressful this is, but remember that papillary type is very slow-growing. A few months isn't going to be enough for it to do more damage.

No worries. If it makes you feel any better, I walked around for YEARS with papillary thyroid cancer before it was caught. My main nodule was something like 5 cm and my entire thyroid was almost double the size it was supposed to be by the time it was discovered. Also had a bit of lymph node involvement. But now I'm almost 5 years clear and counting :)
