I have 4.2cm mass on the right side of my thyroid after a fine needle biopsy my results came back as suspicious but unclear. My endocrinologist recommended a total thyroidectomy, she believes there is a 50% chance of cancer in the mass. However, the surgeon I met with today mentioned that lobectomy is an option and while she said she isn't partial to either option based on how she was talking about the lobectomy it sounded as if it was her choice she would choose the lobectomy. As you can imagine this is confusing. The surgeon is saying that there is a 5-15% chance of cancer.
I kind of need a bit of advice moving forward because I'm only 23 and this is something that could affect the rest of my life.
