Firstly, Thrice were awesome as always, but it didn't feel like an equitable co-headlining tour. The atmosphere felt pretty flat for Thrice's set compared to previous times I've seen them. There wasn't a great deal of energy in the crowd beyond the first few rows, and during the quiet parts of their set, like the intro to Beyond The Pines, you could hear audience chatter over Dustin's singing. It really felt like watching a support act.
I've not listened to much Coheed before, and fair play to them, they were incredible! But the crowd went mad for their set, super loud singing and everyone bouncing from the front to the back.
It felt like 80% of the crowd were there to see Coheed. In the Rock City gig guide it said 'Coheed and Cambria', in large font, ' Thrice' in a smaller font underneath. Claudio announced it as the 'A Window of the Waking Mind Tour.' I overheard someone saying how great the support acts were. It just felt like a Coheed gig.
Still, loved seeing the guys perform a pretty cool setlist, but I'm kinda bummed that I spent a lot of money to see Thrice in a support slot. I think both sets of fans would have much preferred a single headliner rather than two shorter headline sets. It feels like both bands are big enough to tour separately, but I'm guessing the co-headline tour is down to cost saving, which is understandable.
I'd be interested to know what the other UK dates were like?
