T14 AMD Gen 3 - unable to update bios - layout mismatch error

Hi all, I've just got my first Thinkpad in many years after various Dell/HP laptops (work, no choice) but finally got a personal 2nd hand T14 AMD G3, and I am trying and failing to update the bios.

It reports a product name: 21CF1SIT36

UEFI Bios: R23ET22WT03 (0.22) 2022-01-13

ECP: R23HT26W (0.26T02)

I tried to install the latest ( R23UJ70W ), and the earliest ( R23UJ47W ) but both fail flashing from Windows 11 with an error: Bios layout mismatch error

It seems the version I have (0.22) is even earlier than the initial release 1.17 listed here: https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/r23uj70w.txt

I am wondering if this is some custom or pre-release version, or as it works, do I just not touch it? Can anyone shed any light as to what is going on here?
