An article about how badly Starlink satellites are interfering with astronomy and cluttering the skies/adding high risk of collision got me wondering if, for the total cost of the Starlink program, it wouldn't be just as or more feasible to install a global internet network here on Earth for the same cost - without having to sacrifice our science and skies, and risking losing our access to space for 1000 years.
So, which would be more cost effective:
Starlink satellite program, or On-Earth global high-speed internet network?
