Post Body

There is a math trick where you can take any positive whole number (n) and follow two rules to end up in a 4-2-1 loop

If n=even do n/2 If n=odd do n*3 1 reading the equation left to right

Example: if n=10:

10/2=5 53 1=16 16/2=8 8/2=4 4/2=2 2/2=1 13 1=4

I want to know how to easily calculate (without having to g to go through the presses of getting to the loop) how many calculations it takes to reach answer=1

(This example took 6)
