Watching the Umbrella Academy reminds of me of my favorite book growing up, the Eyre Affair

Post Body

Although they are very different stories whenever I watch this series I get such Thursday Next/Jasper Fforde vibes.

Its been awhile since I read the books so I'm a bit fuzzy, forgive me.. Thursday Next series takes place in an alternate 1985 in England. The main character, Thursday works in a special operations branch which works cases related to literary crimes. Technology is different in this alternate world, with gravitubes instead airplanes for example. She also has a pet dodo.

In addition there is time travel. And spoilers Thursday discovers that she can jump into fiction and ultimately is tasked with protecting literary characters. There's a lot more story but something about TUA with the time travel, lack of regular technology (cell phones, PC) and a strangely built world that gets stranger its so nostalgic for me.
