I feel that the Sparrow academy was soooooo woefully underutilized. From the promo, teasers, and even the first couple episodes we're under the impression that this is a super impressive, supposedly "improved" version of the Umbrella Academy, and they set it up like the conflict between the two would be a huge focal point of the season.

But then they...killed off their number one episode one and slowly picked off 80% of the group over the next few episodes. I was so frustrated with how the Sparrows were handled for a multitude of reasons:

1) we didn't get a proper introduction obviously we got the little montage at the beginning showing each Sparrow and a bit about their power, but beyond the few fight scenes between the academies, there's no discussion or explanation of their powers and we're only getting the most surface level perspective. I have so many questions, like about Alphonso's power. I got kind of human voodoo doll energy like Queenie in AHS, but some of the hits he took affected him and some affected his assailant, and I wasn't too clear on what caused that distinction. I also want to know more about Fei, the thing with the birds is so cool. Does Jayme have any power to manipulate or control the delusions? Can she do anything else in general/with the venom?

2) lack of backstory like obviously there's backstory but we didn't get any of it? there was the flashback scene with Pogo where we get some more of the team dynamic of the Sparrows, (and also Marcus gets 12 more seconds of screen time lmao). In this scene we can see that Alphonso's face is less disfigured, implying the use of his power over the years has changed him but not giving us a why or how. Like, was he born "normal" or did he always have some sort of droopiness going on? Also??? Christopher??? The fact that we were all just supposed to get hip to a sentient cube that doesn't speak but is understood? And like apparently he pulls women even like? Are you telling me this man was born a cube 😭 what did his mother think? How do you adopt a cube? I just??? Was Fei born blind or did she lose her eyes later on in life and adapt to be able to see through the crows? I need ANSWERS!

3) team dynamics I wish we got to see more of the inter-Sparrow dynamics before everyone fuckin died. We got a sense that Jayme and Alphonso were close, and Ben and Fei had a lot of history, some of it quite tumultuous. I wanted to know what happened the one or two chances Ben initially had to be Number One. Fei seemed to have quite a soft spot for Christopher, so I wonder how they bonded over the years

4) public image I know the Sparrows stayed together for years to the point of being the resident superheroes with little actual incidents to handle until TUA arrived in their timeline. I would have loved to see more of what their interaction with the public was like, did they do events and stuff considering they have all that merch?

I'm sure there are other things but I've ranted quite a bit at this point, if anyone has any thoughts abt things I haven't listed too I'd love to hear it
