Why is a bull market particularly beneficial?
Post Body

Hi everyone,

Happy Sunday! I’ve got a potentially stupid question that I just can’t seem to come to a good answer on.

I’ve recently gotten into selling options, but I’ve been in the stock market for a few years now. I’m having some trouble understanding why a bull market is any more profitable for theta strategies than a bear market. Also a side question, shouldn’t IV also increase during downtrends?

I’ve gathered that I shouldn’t be using this year’s successes as a standard because of the wild market conditions, which I understand. Although, I’m not sure why it makes a huge difference in terms of income/profit sustainability. Is it because we are mainly selling CSPs instead of CCs?

Thanks for your time!
