(I mean no snark or disrespect with the title it’s an sincere and genuine question lol).

(To preface this I am NOT trying to make comparisons to Game of Thrones or pit the two shows against each other- just trying to help illustrate my point).

There was an discussion on my Twitter feed today about how culturally relevant and huge Game of Thrones was while it was airing. And when I say huge I mean how popular it was/how you couldn’t escape it/how it was literally everywhere. The legendary status it had in pop culture. And yes I understand those are really biased/exaggerated statements to make but I think people who also watched the show while it was airing will agree that there is some truth to it.

But it got me thinking: was The Sopranos like that? And I can’t answer that question myself cause I wasn’t alive while most of the show was airing (apologies to making anyone feel old in advance lol). So TLDR my question is: to those who were around while the show was airing, to those who did watch it while it was airing, how actually big was The Sopranos?
