Post Body

Hey guys, I wrote this guide in /r/thesims but it should be here as well, because its a subreddit dedicated to legacies! Yay! If you have any questions I will be willing to re-answer them because I like answering your questions.

Every day we seem to get a text post about the legacy challenge. So I will answer everyone's questions about it here. Hopefully people instead of making a text post about it will go here instead (or google the legacy challenge)

WHAT IS A LEGACY, OVERGROWN_WATERMELON???

Ah, the legacy challenge is the most popular challenge of the sims series. It has been going on since TS2. The challenge itself is really, really easy. I don't really class it as a challenge. Here are the rules though:

  • Create a sim. Male or female. Preferably YA. This will be your founder.

  • Purchase the most expensive lot in your world. This would be the 60x60 lot next to the Landgraabs in Sunset valley.

  • Your sim will only have enough simoleons to purchase a bed and a very cheap bathroom (maybe a kitchen). You can go totally homeless though, by living in the gym or elsewhere.

  • Find a husband! Or wife! Make babies. As many babies as you want. If you're a baby addict like me you may want NRAAS's Master controller and Portrait panel. Means you can have 24 sims in a family. Babies everywhere.

  • Do whatever you want, gain skills, get a job (though the founder is preferred to be a stay at home mum/dad but do whatever the heck you want with your heir) and grow the children up!

  • When they have all aged up to YA or Teenager, choose 1 son or daughter to become the heir. Kick out all the rest (or leave 1 spare in case the next heir dies) and find another husband/wife!

  • Stay in the 60x60 lot. Build it up to be a giant mansion.

  • Congratulations! You've gone throught the 1st generation. What to do next? Do what I just told you for the next 10 generations with the next heir. Get married, make babies, age babies up, choose heir, rinse and repeat. Very, VERY simple.

  • Some other stuff you may want to note: DON'T USE CHEATS. Lifespan should be normal, 90 days. Ambrosia, life fruit and death flowers cannot be consumed (or in the death flowers case, cannot be in the sims inventory)

I just gave you the basic rules for a legacy. HERE is a very detailed guide for the legacy challenge. But, you don't need to follow the rules word by word. You can start out in any empty lot if you want. If you get bored, move out! The legacy challenge is to be enjoyed, not to be seen as a chore.

FAQ

Can I have a vampire/fairy/witch etc. as a heir/founder? Yes. Yes you can.

There isn't a 60x60 lot in my world!

If you've downloaded a custom world, this may be a problem for you. How to solve it? Buy the biggest lot in the world, even though it might not be 60x60. It's fine if it's 50x50. There's no god that's going to kill you since you chose a 50x50 lot. You're the god in your sims game, do whatever the hell you want.

Can I have pets in my legacy?

Yes, yes you can. Perhaps you can do an animal legacy? ;)

Uh oh! My sim got 60,000 simoleons for doing this and that! What do I do?

When a sim gains a whole bunch of simoleons unexpectedly the most common thing a person does is buy a car. Or you can invest in properties, buying the grocery store or spa!

My legacy is boring! Is there anything else to do?

Yes! Theres a whole bunch of stuff to do!

THIS IS A WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL COMPILED LIST OF LEGACY CHALLENGES OR OTHER CHALLENGES TO DO!

I hope some of you find this useful. Thanks for reading! And if you have any questions about the sims (nothing technical please) just comment or PM me! I look forward to answering your questions :)
