Micromanaging Families

Hello all…so I have a problem with micromanaging my sims. I have a spreadsheet with sims that are around the same age group as my generation sims. I have things planned out as far as three generations right now.
I currently have three main families I rotate with and everything else is managed in the background after these families age and progress. My question is there anything I can do to help myself not be spending so much time micromanaging?
I play with neighborhood stories on for select families.
