Edit// Updated to clarify some points and that this is not me complaining about the game crashing and/or my hardware. This is a post defending the game, the devs and the leaps and bounds they have made trying to work through everything they are facing. I did not realize some people would take my post as critiquing the devs vs defending them.
So, this is a bit of a rant. One I will try to articulate in a way that does not offend.
This game is 10 years old, and the majority of individuals who are consistently posting about the state of the game - are running hardware that is outdated.
I have a Lenovo Legion which honestly is top of the line, not a flex, but to prove a point. The game still occasionally crashes and can take far too long to load - because of things I KNOW I am doing (mods, CC etc). Granted my definition of taking too long to load would be up to a minute, and crashing after I am doing just way too much. But overall the game runs excellent for me. I think this point was misconstrued, I was not criticizing the game or the health of it because of my hardware.
These devs are trying to balance code that is 10 years old with hardware that is new, while accommodating the hardware that is also 10 years old. If I was a dev on that team I would want nothing more than to drop the hardware that the majority of the simmer community uses. Again, no shade, the code was shakey to begin with, but I saw a YouTuber the other day who said āIām in love with the sims againā because she got a new laptop (When the majority of her videos are criticizing the health of the game) I love the simmer - but come on. Itās crazy to me that no one elseās realizes it.
You are playing a game that is 10 years old that is trying to accommodate hardware from 10 years ago and today. At the same time running gigs worth of mods/cc (donāt even get me started on the poly count of alpha CC - again no shade). I can not imagine trying to balance that and trying to create new content.
Yes EA sucks, yes they are trying to make money. But also, in order to optimize the game to the performance it should be at - I hate to say it - too many of you wouldnāt be able to play it. Period.
No shade. Just facts. There needs to be more leeway with the devs. They are trying to cater to the community and the execs. Itās a tough job. One I certainly wouldnāt want.
