As theravadins known, there's danger in putting too much attention to the world instead of our practice.
And we also believe, by having confidence in the Sutta Pitaka, that the eras of absolute darkness are inevitable, the next one being, the one that precedes the arrival of Metteyya.
So, with that in mind. Would you consider skillful to exercise generosity and goodwill, by spending a large portion of our efforts by sharing the wisdom of the Path, both in a direct form, and indirect ways, like art? Can that help with our goal of Arahantship, as a Dana practice? Or will it hinder it, and it's best to concentrate all of our efforts in achieving enlightenment first, before turning our attention outwards?
I'll appreciate both Sutta takes and personal opinions on this.
My temporal take is that the path is already the hardest challenge a human can take, to also balance that with an outward objective doesn't seem a good idea, even if it's made withing the framework of Dana. Maybe there is a balance to be had, but surely that skill of balancing will demand an outstanding individual, that probably isn't us.
Thanks for reading.
