I (19F) just left the 5th therapist I've been to in 5 years, with 3 of them having been in the past year at my college. The past two I left told me I don't know what I want out of therapy, therefore it's my fault, but tbh all three from my school had big issues (ie; not knowing simple things about disorders, not understanding gender identity things, forgetting things I told them). Anyways, after the last therapist I left told me that I have to figure out what I want out of therapy because it's not just gonna make me happy, I'm thinking about just quitting. This is easy, as my mom doesn't think therapy is/hates therapists/doesn't want me to waste anymore money. What is therapy supposed to give you?
