I need help being a better person

I had gotten into a car accident last month and never told mom about it until now, and even then I lied to her face about it. So she took the keys from me. I feel upset at myself for lying about it and not telling her about it on that day. I'm irresponsible and I've lost her trust again. If anyone can help me become better from this I'd appreciate it.
