I went through 5 years of school, 2 unpaid year long internships, and working to support myself all at the same time for no reason it appears. My most recent therapy job that I started about a month ago is horrible. Some fun facts about it:

Sessions are 30 minutes, back to back. All day besides lunch. And notes are expected to be done within session.

Outreach for missed sessions is expected to be done if there is a no show. Same with treatment plans, which clicking through a junky ehr makes impossible within 30 minutes.

My recruiter told me I’d be getting a certain rate. Now they’ve lowered it by about $10. No benefits either.

Just lost a member of my family. I wanted to take some time off, and my agency tells me I can only take my 4.5 hours of sick time off.

Every morning there’s a lengthy email about things I’ve messed up on, along with no support or feedback when things are done correctly. Kind of demoralizing.

I feel like by staying, it shows agencies like this that it’s okay to overwork your social workers. Just had an interview for a mobile crisis clinician that I hope I get but why are agencies like this? How is it possible within a month of starting this job I’m already feeling burnt out and my empathy is running extremely low. I don’t want to leave a job after a month esp for the clients sake but this is such an exploitative environment that I’m thinking about quitting tomorrow. What would you do?
