Okay friends and Neighbors, in The Amazing song Burn After writing there's a line that I've always thought had a different word than what all of the lyrics I've looked at suggest. In the chorus when he sings: "you cut my ______, you left red ink everywhere." I have always thought he said air. The song is full of metaphor, like most songs, and I thought the implication was he can't breathe without the person in question that left. Along with the next line, which I always thought implied this person had graded him much too harshly on the test of their relationship. Or something to that effect. Now, almost every set of lyrics I've looked up report the line as "you cut my hair". I suppose that could still be a metaphor for him losing a piece of himself or changing the way he looks, I suppose. But that's a little more of a stretch than not being able to breathe without someone. I would love to know if any of you delightful people have any insight into this particular line, or perhaps have heard him sing it live and have a better read on if he says hair or air. Obviously, anyone could be forgiven forgetting those two mixed up and I just think the implication of what he's going through makes a whole lot more sense if the word is air, as I've said. Thank you all ahead of time for your input, and I hope you all are doing well and thriving. Take care!
