Game keeps crashing...

I'm playing Wintermute, at the end of Episode 1, right as you transisition out of the Milton Region through the cave. As soon as i press and hold to transition, my game crashes, leaving a black screen with the words "Leave Milton Region" hanging there permanently. Is this a bug, or is something going haywire on my end? I would very much appreciate any tips and help.
