Is it a common innovation to use the matching elemental pentagram (Air for East, etc) for each quarter instead of using what is ostensibly the Earth pentagram at all quarters? I recall instructions not to see the LRP pentagrams as Earth pentagrams per se, but as general invoking or banishing pentagrams when used in these rituals. I'm inferring that the Earth pentagram may symbolize the Microcosm in this case.
i remember seeing that if you look at the points and their elemental associations, then the banishing earth pentagram goes "spirit fire air water earth" and the invoking earth pentagram goes "earth water air fire spirit." so i think about the pentagrams as lifting us up to spirit and then pulling us back down to earth. like its directional, catching each element in a sweep upwards or downwards.
that said, i feel like this isnt too strange an innovation, although it seems hard to remember where to start for each direction. like id mix up the pentagrams for sure. when i was wiccan i used to do the alchemical triangles (up for fire, up with line for air, down for water, down with line for earth) because those associations were easy to remember. the double triangles seem easy enough too (although then the directions are wrong?)
idk this isnt like an official perspective or anything.
