The most important thing in my mind is that you remember a few things going foward (if you're going to write on yourself or just theorize/what have you) about the opening of the game. The previous games' theme was love, as confirmed by Druckmann. The previous opening of the game in which Sarah dies. Finally, the theme of this game, which is hate.
What I'm going to suggest is truthfully, a bit of a stretch but we'll see what y'all think.
The game opens with that some shot I'm sure many of us have seen before. The soldier opens fire on Joel. He begs for his life, Tommy shoots him.
We are now intersplicing footage, as Joel finds Sarah bleeding out and dying - we have someone turning into a clicker. The transformation process was never really directly shown to us.
As the transformation completes we reach the end of that scene, as we know it. The clicker's eyes gloss over and Joel looks at the dead body of the guard. The clicker, and Joel run over to the (a) corpse and begin tearing it apart. Joel beating down on it with his fists, screaming while Tommy urgers him off. The clicker literally tearing the flesh from it's bones, until we hit a sort of duality.
The shot looks all too similar as we cut to a shot of Tommy ushering a glossy-eyed Joel away from town. His eyes spelling one thing out to you.
Hate.
The Last of Us Part 2.
That's my thoughts, sorry for the sort of long post. Let me know what you think/any general thoughts are totally welcomed! Thanks for your time!
