I apologize for doubting this show’s integrity! After a re-watch of episode 8, my opinion that it wasn’t that good is 100% false. The writing for this show is amazing and I’m just an idiot with a poor memory. A couple of things happened when I first watched episode 8: I was on the treadmill and missed a couple of crucial things in the beginning of the episode. It was very obvious that they were eating people. The second thing is that episode 7 threw me off because the setting was before Ellie met Joel. Maybe I’m just not used to watching a series one episode at a time every week… binging series’ for years has affected my ability to focus, I think.
Another thing that I didn’t realize was that the person who Joel killed at the end of episode 6 was part of the cannibal-cult. This is obvious to me now and it was obvious in the show, but I missed this part, which is why I thought the episode wasn’t “fleshed out” enough (no pun intended). I also didn’t play the game, so this may have an affect on my understanding as well.
I know no one cares about this post or my opinions, but I just thought I might share because I’m so excited that I was wrong! In the future, I will definitely make sure I go back and have all my facts straight. I don’t want the series to end, it’s so good!
