Thoughts on making vanity items count for sets?

I have a few 5.11 vanity pieces and immediately thought that they’d count as set pieces for the 5.11 set. It didn’t.

But this may be pretty cool. Possibly a very rare drop of a vanity item that could count for a set. Where it would count as an additional piece when others are worn, but not a set piece by itself. To keep it from getting too overpowered with tons of set bonuses, it could be limited to specific armor parts (only gloves or gloves and a holster or something similar).
