I just wanted to give my two cents on some ideas that have been floating around in regards to PVP.
- The Division is an RPG first and a shooter second
The Division is a RPG/Shooter Hybrid don't you think theyre gonna be working on both aspects to make them good?
FF in PVP has been done in many games that had a separate campaign. Friendly fire could be implemented only in the dark zones
Everyone seems to be clumping the darkzones and the main game together. Why, because we get loot? The Darkzones and the main game are seperate with a seamless connection. The balance of the RPG and shooter aspects of this game are tilted at the darkzones. If the DZ's are the competitve aspect of the game it should be more about the mechanics. Ofcourse The Division may not be going for any sort of competitive PVP; just a loot grab. If they are trying to make PVP experience that can stand on its own they will be focusing more on the shooter side of things for the DZ's
2.People who are expecting a realistic experience or people who want Freindly fire are expecting a Tom Clancy shooter not the Division
When talking about Dark zones alone, yes I'm expecting some traits of a Tom Clancy game in a Tom Clancy game.
FF Is not an exclusive attribute to shooters alone. There are plenty of RPGS where you are allowed to kill friend and foe alike.
The want for Friendly Fire has been misread as a want for realism when it is not. FF is a game mechanic that drastically alters the way you operate in a game.
FF is a balancing tool especially for explosives
The only reason realism is brought up is because FF is realistic. I don't want it because it's realistic, but because it is a mechanic I enjoy in my shooter.
Yea it's kind of a rant
TLDR: Its an RPG/Shooter Hybrid which doesnt mean they have to skimp on mechanics
