I've noticed that in every season during one on one dates, they always have these "hard conversations" where the girl/guy drops some emotional baggage on the bachelor/Bachelorette.
My problem with this is that, especially in Joey's case this season, the responses to this information is incredibly scripted.
I would expect an "Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that! I've been with someone that has endometriosis and it's no joke. That's not something that's going to push me away, nor is it going to be a reason that we wouldn't be together. Thank you for telling me, really, that means a lot that you would take that step with me. ensuing conversation about your experiences related to this kind of problem" or whatever.
What ends up happening is that Joey stares blankly at her as if recalling a canned response and says,"Wow. Thank you for telling me that. I don't have experience with this but it isn't a reason to leave you".
Do you think that they actually have this conversation off screen so they can get the real reactions and hard conversations out of the way and then have the contestants provide a canned response for tv?
There's just no way I can see such a scripted conversation being only "wow. Thanks for telling me. I don't hate you."
