Is the performance for last gen consoles ever going to be addressed?

My friends and I thought to give the game a try. Looked like fun. So we boot it up and start playing. Myself and one of the friends have a Series S. Game runs great, not many issues. However the other friend has a One X. Apparently it runs terribly, objects and textures won't load, game crashes, unplayable. The little time we did play we enjoyed ourselves, but couldn't go on from the performance of the One X user. Will this be fixed or is this just a cross-gen title that's doomed on the lower spec side?
