A lot of the characters in the show had their trauma discussed and dissected, but I feel like Shane never got her moment. Close to 100% of the issues in Shane's life were due to her hypersexuality, yet the cause of it was barely discussed. Am I crazy or do I remember a throwaway line in the original show about how she was molested as a child after she ran away? The fact that she had slept with 1000 women by her early 20s should have been a tip-off too. Hypersexuality is extremely common in those who have experienced sexual trauma as children, but it seems like this was thrown away and turned into a personal character flaw.
Very curious about what you all think.
