The Rusty Anchor - 4/5 Stars
As a long-time patron of The Rusty Anchor, I can confidently say that this is the quintessential neighborhood bar you didn't know you needed! Nestled in a cozy corner of Miami, this spot has a special charm that draws you in, whether you're looking for a fun night out or a place to unwind with friends.
The ambiance is undeniably old-school, with nautical-themed decor that has seen its fair share of years but only adds to the place's character. You can almost hear the stories of the regulars echoing through the wood-paneled walls—especially if you've had the pleasure of running into the charming and slightly cheeky Blanche Devereaux, a local legend in her own right.
The drinks are solid and reasonably priced. Their signature drink, "The Rusty Anchor Special," packs a punch and is a must-try for first-timers. The staff are friendly, though you might need to wave them down if the place is buzzing (which it often is, especially on karaoke nights).
Speaking of karaoke, this is where The Rusty Anchor truly shines. It's a no-judgment zone where you can belt out your favorite tunes, whether you're a budding Dorothy Zbornak or just there to cheer on your friends. The crowd is always lively, with plenty of regulars who'll happily join you in a sing-along.
The food is basic pub fare—think burgers, fries, and the occasional fish and chips. It's nothing fancy, but it hits the spot after a few rounds of drinks.
All in all, The Rusty Anchor is a gem of a dive bar with a welcoming atmosphere and a touch of Miami magic. Whether you're there for the karaoke or just to soak up the local flavor, you're sure to leave with a smile on your face—and maybe even a story or two to tell.
