This Saturday, October 14, an annular solar eclipse will be visible along a narrow path in parts of North and South America, whole most of the rest of the hemisphere will see a partial solar eclipse. In Texas, the path goes from Hobbs on the New Mexico border, through Midland/Odessa, down to Kerrville/Vanderpool/San Antonio and the Hill Country, then to Corpus Christi and out into the Gulf of Mexico.
Staying safe while observing and enjoying the event is important, because injuries to the eyes from looking at the sun can be permanent and debilitating.
The Fort Worth Astronomical Society will be doing a livestream of the eclipse on Saturday morning starting around 10am CDT, from the path of annularity in South Texas. While the full "Ring of Fire" will not be visible in North Texas, we will be be broadcasting it live.
