In the most recent ESO blog post called "Meet the Character - Seryn", it is mentioned that Seryn has a relative named "Chodala", who is the Ashkhan of the Urshilaku Tribe. The presence of a Nerevarine in ESO's time was teased back in March with the Faith in the Shadow of Red Mountain book:
Who could not be anxious when Baar Dau trembles in the sky, when unknown Daedra appear in unexpected locales, when it is even said that the Nerevarine has risen among the Ashlanders?
As you may know, the Nerevarine is the incarnate of Indoril Nerevar, and your character in TES III: Morrowind is the true Nerevarine. But there were previous Nerevarines who, due to certain flaws, lacked the vital aspects needed to be Nerevar reborn. In the Cavern of the Incarnate in TES 3, you meet the ghosts of a couple of failed incarnates: Ane Teria, Conoon Chodala, Erur-Dan, Hort Ledd, Idrenie Nerothan, and Peakstar.
When you meet Conoon Chodala's ghost and ask him about his past, he tells you this:
"I was an ashkhan. I led my people against the Akaviri while the Cyrodiil dogs fled before them like kagouti. I quested deep into the strongholds and Red Mountain, cleansing the unclean things in their own blood. I did not heed the counsel of the women, and, to my shame, I craved glory, but never saw my real enemies. My axe and boots are yours, with my blessing."
He mentions being the ashkhan, which is the rank of "Chodala" in ESO: Morrowind, and that he fought the Akaviri on Vvardenfell. The second Akaviri Invasion occurred in 2E 572, and ESO takes place in 2E 582, merely 10 years after. Therefore, it is very likely Conoon Chodala fought in the Akaviri invasion (plus, we already meet a bunch of other veterans in Ebonheart Pact zones). In the recent Meet the Character piece, here are the paragraphs mentioning Ashkhan Chodala:
My observations indicate some sort of familial connection between Seryn and her ashkhan. If I had to hazard a guess, I would say they are either siblings or close cousins. Ashkhan Chodala, a relatively young and extremely robust leader for his tribe, works with Seryn to improve the Ashlander way of life and to negotiate deeper connections among the tribes. This may bear further investigation, as a united Ashlander nation could pose a significant threat to the Great Houses, especially House Redoran and its continuing efforts to expand its influence into that region. Otherwise, Seryn and Chodala demonstrate a deep affection and enduring respect for each other. Deferential to Chodala's rank and standing, she nevertheless acts as her own person, coming across as wise for her age and extremely well spoken.
While Seryn speaks softly, she also carries a hefty staff. I've seen her use it to break up arguments among the savages, defend herself against hostile exiles, and even utilize it to redirect the attention of a charging nix-ox before it could barrel over a group of Ashlander children. Some diplomats are all talk and little action, but Seryn demonstrated a surprisingly effective knack for both during my observations of the gathering tribes. I recommend that we continue to keep track of Seryn and Chodala. I believe that both will play a vital role in the next stage of Ashlander-Great House relations—no matter what form that stage happens to take. I look forward to the next task that you and Lord Vivec set before me. For the Three!
With this, it's seemingly confirmed that Conoon Chodala will be in ESO, and that there may be some quests relating to him. (Unless its the unlikely case where it's just one of his ancestors or descendants) What's also interesting is that his relative, Seryn, shares the same names a Saint Seryn the Merciful. Perhaps it was a common Chimer name?
