I have several issues with the mcguffin called "the algorythm" in the movie. First of all, the name is really confusing. "Algorythm" is a word used to describe a scientific formula, not a mechanical device, so if we are indeed talking about a mathematical formula which would allow to reverse the worlds entropy, then wtf is the 9 parts-device for? Most importantly, why would the Oppenheimer-like scientist who discovered the formula (and then decided it would be to dangerous to use) hide it for? Why didn t she just destroy it? Why doesn t the protagonist do the same at the end of the movie? The whole idea of splitting and hiding the device is convoluted and nonsensical, what is the point?
