It seems the new trend is for shows to not have a theme song or even much of an intro. If you could name a show that has a theme song that you think is the best, what would it be and why? I’m having trouble picking just one so here are a few in no particular order:
NYPD Blue - this song always hit me in the feels. Watched this show religiously with my stepdad who passed a few years ago. I also think it’s an elegant composition that sets the mood for the show.
Kung Fu The Legend Continues - this is probably a show most haven’t heard of but I watched it after school when I was a kid. The theme song has really excellent blended instrumentation of East and West. Additionally the voiceover always reminds you of the origin.
Homicide: Life on the Street - probably the best cop show ever. The theme song has a tribal sound to it and the slow start that builds and increases in tempo serves as a metaphor for the chase that occurs between cop and suspect.
Renegade - not much to say with this one other than I think you’d be hard pressed to find a piece of music that better captures the show’s mood.
I have others, but curious to read your responses.
