Post Body

Hello,

I am a beginner at stargazing. Have tried to checkout the meteor shower this year. Was really cool. Just learning more about it slowly. My family is planning to get me 152mm Mak telescope for Christmas. I want to understand a couple of things before getting it.

  1. I live in a city with a the bortle score of 7.
  2. My building is the tallest so there is no obstruction of view and we have a rooftop.

My questions :

  1. In my limited understanding, stargazing in city limits is hard. I want to check if I can view any planet from my rooftop or is it only if I am moving away from the city? All websites talk about nebulae and other things. I want to start off slow.
  2. Is 152mm Mak even good? I feel it is a tad bit expensive.
