Amazon has this for $300 and I am looking to get a telescope for my son, possibly for christmas this year.
I know Absolutely Nothing about telescopes. I read through the sticky that gives recommendations in price ranges, which is awesome. I did not see this telescope listed, but some similar ones are in there, and there is no $600 price range, which is what this normally sells for, so I wasn't sure if maybe it is a really good telescope, there just wasn't a price range for it.
Anyway, I would like to know if this is a must grab kinda deal, or if there is something better for the same or similar money.
Pertinent Information, according to the top sticky:
* Price: $300 /- is a good range.
* Setting: We have fairly dark skies, some household light pollution nearby.
* Travel: I would 100% like to be able to take this with us camping to really dark areas.
* Sights: I would definitely like to see as much as I can in both settings. Planets, galaxies, etc. My son is absolutely infatuated with space and I am trying to encourage it as much as possible and learn along with him.
* Camera: 100% needs to hook up to a DSLR or laptop for pictures (Canon DSLR if that matters).
I think that is all the pertinent information, and I apologize in advance if I missed something from the sticky post. Anything else that would help narrow this down, please let me know!
Thank you for any help you guys/gals can provide.
