I own a pair of Celestron SkyMaster Binoculars 25x70 (71008). (of which I've attached iphone photos of). I suspect some collimation issues and def a lot of aberration which I don't mind.
I was so shocked when I saw the Orion nebula and 4 of Jupiter's moons on a pair of binos! After a year I'm ready to upgrade! I want that feeling of "awe" again.
What I'm after is a telescope for live view that is a VAST improvement under $600AUD that can handle iphone photography and maybe SLR.
But, is it even worth getting a telescope in bortle 6 Southern Australian skies?
My research points to an '8" Dob' but I'm not so sure that would be best?
Are there a resource that groups photos per the telescope model so you can have a live view of what you get? The bits i saw were not much improved from my binos. I prefer a goto to keep the objects in the field for a good look. I'm getting some christmas money which if it goes over my budget can open up more options.
My gut keeps pointing to the skywatcher 150p virtuoso collapsable $799 (well above budget)
or Skywatcher flextube 200p $711
Others I am looking at
celestron Firstscope 72mm $157
130 DX Celestron StarSense Explorer (with app) $890
I'm also very weak so i can't really carry around anything big, most of the 8" I've looked at are collapsible. I don't intend to take it outside of my backyard.
