So a 2 part question here as I'd like to purchase a telescope.

I would be using my telescope from Orillia, Ontario. Out of the main city near a lake in my backyard. It's a residential street but still sort of country. Would this be a suitable location or will there be too much light or interferences. I really don't the terminology so hopefully you understand.

Second question which I'm sure you get a lot is what does a beginner need? I'm willing to invest some money as long as my location is suitable. I'd like to also photograph.

If anyone has some advice or links to good information I'd be greatful.
