As an Indian who did Postdoc in Israel, I deeply felt how Israeli academics value US institutes alongside Western ones, broadly.
I see clear anti-semitic campaigns at Columbia and Harvard, and none of the protests on how this is not correct, by Israeli academics there, are working. Harvard President I think issued a belated response but it was extremely feeble and failed to condemn the anti-semitism in entirety.
My issue is, I have seen how Israeli academics fawn over US/Western approval. I profess at a leading Business school in India and when I broached up the topic of solidarity and a potential partnership, it was not viewed positively. This is from the people I know in Israel.
I don't think the US or West, especially the latter, support Israel as much as India does. Why not build better ties here when Indian institutes are coming up in rankings too?
I do think Israel needs to build better relationships with countries that have an emerging support. So many surveys show that young population in Western countries has a dim view of Israel, so imagine the future. India has a reverse opinion, most young people support Israel, to my understanding.
People go study abroad for, mainly, two things: brand and network
Very few institutions outside of the US has both.

Tons of downsides. But truth is, the potential upside in acquiring such degree is translated to more opportunities with better payment.
Moreover, I’m sure that doesn’t matter where they’ll go, Jewish/Israeli students will find someone that hates them, in class, faculty, or administration.
India is now a good friend to Israel, USA is the best friend for Israel. If we find haters inside out bestie, we’ll sure to find some in India.
Also, India has a very mixed population, including millions of Muslims that aren’t very sympathetic of us.
I’m not protecting US schools, I went to one of the top 3, I’ve experienced first hand the hate. Just stating the fact, antisemitism is everywhere.
