I'm looking for a fic that I can't find; originally read on AO3. The overall context of the fic is that the sheriff doesn't know about the supernatural yet, but he's noticed that Stiles has been injured a lot and thinks Stiles is involved in something criminal. The bulk of the fic is Sheriff Stilinski confronting Stiles about where he's been after Stiles comes home (pretty badly) injured (cuts inside his mouth, broken ribs, maybe limping from a twisted ankle), and Stiles not saying much back to the sheriff (maybe one or a couple sentences) during the confrontation. Things I think I remember about the fic:

• The sheriff mentions being worried that Stiles is a serial killer, or is maybe on drugs, and that he's had Stiles followed/investigated
• One of the only lines of Stiles dialogue that I remember is him asking there Sheriff what he found while investigating Stiles, to which the sheriff replies "nothing"
• The sheriff has been to crime scenes that he knows Stiles has been at, but never found any evidence against Stiles. He mentions that the crime scenes are clean, but not so clean that they look tampered with.
• The sheriff mentions that he's been scared of Stiles. Stiles thinks back to the sheriff reaching for his gun when Stiles has entered a room and there's a line that's something like "Stiles had clocked that move" and maybe had to stop himself from defending himself against the implied threat from the sheriff.
• Stiles smiles at the sheriff with bloody teeth (because Stiles has injuries to his mouth)
• The fic ends with Stiles leaving the house and limping (due to a twisted ankle I think) to Derek. Derek tells Stiles that he's a protector, and that they'll tell the sheriff about werewolves the next day.
• I'm not sure if the fic was labeled as Sterek slash, or maybe pre-slash, or maybe no slash at all. I don't think there was any Stiles-Derek relationship discussed except maybe that Derek made Stiles feel safe??
