Teen challenge for me was just a roller coaster of bullshit. I been to a few different in the PNW. and let me tell you them people are fucked up. Its a slaveship program. They do not care about you unless you are bringing in money. They will CONSTANTLY call your family and guilt them into giving them money. You work for them 6 days a week and then have to struggle for basic needs. My director, who passed away from a drug over dose was the most shady, criminal minded, narcissistic dirt bag i’ve personally ever met, and I was a drug user for almost 2 decades. He was constantly stealing money. He was stealing out food stamps, and stealing spending money our families had donated for us to be able to get our essentials. You could get away with murder if your family is paying enough money. The people there have a god complex that is psychologically disgusting. Those people really think they are an authoritative figure, when really they’re just junkies that were too incapable of reentering society. You are treated like a demon if you don’t follow their very strict bullshit rules. You will be gossiped about and lied to. But mostly, if you feel Teen Challenge helped you, its because you never really needed it. You CAN get yourself sober without a stupid ass program. Your days and full of mindless worksheets and classroom attendance, both before and after working all fuckin day. Shits ridiculous. The turn over rate for people attending teen challenge is insane. In a year I was able to see 200 people leave the program unsuccessfully, while maybe 10 actually completed it. I can’t even tell you how many of my old friends from there are dead now. They lived short lives and wasted so much of it at TC. The use the name of Jesus to justify being tyrants. They make being a christian look like the last thing you’d ever want to engage in. The students you meet are the only thing worth while. But the staff is a bunch of prideful dipshits that think they’re hot shit for being in charge.
