Before I start this off, schools may seem to take threats lightly, but they do their best to calm the student body, and handle the situation as legally and efficiently as possible. If you have evidence of threats or violence, please contact your school administration or police. And, if you are having violent or suicidal thoughts or actions, the suicide hotline is open 24 hours a day: 1-800-273-8255
The day starts. I walk in through my highschool's front doors at 7:15 sharp. Administration has a wing for the school board and the people in charge of the schools in the surrounding area, so it's not uncommon to see officials roaming around, but all of administration, including the superintendent, were greeting us as we walked in an talking amongst themselves. I didn't think much of it, our office is right in front of the entrance so I figured they wanted to say hi, which looking back on, was stupid to think. I go straight to my math classroom, which I do in the mornings to get extra help in math. As I'm getting help, I get a text from my friend, K.
K texts me, "Did you hear about the threat?" I respond, "Yeah, the one on Monday?" (On Monday this week a kid reported that another student threatened to kill all of the students he had on his hit list. I haven't heard much from it, but no precaution was taken as far as I know because no incriminating evidence was found.)
K says, "No, there's been a new threat made last night." K then sends a screenshot of her chat between her and a friend. K's friend warns her of another guy in our highschool texting "Don't come to school tomorrow" to K's friend. K's friend warns K, who warns me. I'm not too concerned at this point, threats have become commonplace, sadly. I inform my math teacher, who seems concerned, and asks if that's what administration was down by the entrance for. I respond that I wasn't too sure, I hadn't listened to any of the chatter, but it seems suspicious that they would all stand at the entrance of the school.
Period one starts, and the class is in a panic. Others more informed tell the others that the guy was kicked out of his last school for bringing in a full magazine of ammunition for a gun, but no firearm. Many are confirming that the threat was real. They told of how the potential shooter, let's call him Z, would stare at the girls in his class. Z would make crude, sexual remarks and breathe through his mouth slowly while staring into space. Z dressed stereotypically for a dude calling in shooting threats to a highschool in the middle of farm country. He wore long, dark clothing, long black hair, talked to few people and made people genuinely uncomfortable.
This all started when weZ bumps into a buddy of mine (I was not with my buddy at the time, I was in class).
Now, for this to make sense, you have to know that my buddy has a girlfriend he is head over heels in love with. She's on the heavier side due to a medical condition, but he supports and loves her anyway.
The following is paraphrased, I've only heard about this from classmates.
Now, Z bumps into my buddy, and says "Dude fucking watch it" My buddy says "Chill dude, I'm not in the mood". Z says "Yeah, and I bet neither is your fatass girlfriend" My buddy says "Yo fucking watch it, I'll have your ass on the ground" Z then throws a punch, and being a scrawny little shit, gets the shit kicked out of him.
Apperantly Z then made threats to my buddy and his friends, including me. So you can imagine that when I hear about Z telling someone to stay home, I was panicking. Z is in class and administration didn't pull him out, nothing. I text my mom, she fucking flips, and races to come get me at the school. My fears are being confirmed the more I stay in period one. No learning is being done because everyone is worrying about this threat. My mom arrives, and I get called down. I'm greeted by at least 5 other parents in the office to get their kid out of school. The office is flooded with phone calls, and my mom signs me out and we get out of there.
I get updates from my friends in school, but not my buddy because he's home from school due to the threat.
The following happens:
Half of the school is taken home by parents by 10am. Parents flip shit and asking why Z is still in class when he made a threat to shoot and kill students, and they get no reasonable answer, a simple, "We're handling the situation as best we can".
11pm, Z is pulled out of class and is kept in the principal's office to wait for his parents to come, so they would be present for questioning. Around this time 3 state troopers pull up (We don't have a police station, the state troopers are the closest we have to cops, and the state police station is 30 minutes away from the school).
The staties search his locker and find a butterfly knife along with school supplies and a notebook with some pretty good evidence of threats in it. (We haven't been told what was found in the notebook)
School hasn't let out yet, but I've been sitting at home and updates have gone silent. Z was taken out of school, suspended I believe, and is at a police station in custody.
My only fear is that since Z was supended, he'll come back, and who knows what he had the knife in his locker for. We're just fucking lucky he wasn't packing heat, because he could've shot up a classroom in the time he was allowed in class which was a stupid decision by the school.
Kids are saying that he was suicidal and was going to shoot up the cafeteria period six, kill as many as he can, and kill himself, but I only know that he threatened to shoot up the school.
I'm safe for now dudes, I'll keep you posted, as this shit just happened today. Stay safe out there, and if you have questions feel free to dm me.
