Hello, everyone.

I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience studying abroad through a foreign exchange program. I've recently been considering taking part in one of AFS's summer programs, ideally to a European or Spanish-speaking nation.

However, a few days ago they published the tuition costs. Most of the programs are ~8000USD . My family is right in the zone where we wouldn't qualify for financial aid, but we also can't afford spending so much on this.

Has anybody taken a similar program (through AFS or otherwise)? How was it? If anyone could provide me with another company that sponsors similar exchanges but at a lower cost, I would really appreciate it.
