Hi everyone - so i received a broken fader KOii right after launch, returned it to TE, and today I got the replacement. The fader is extremely tight and they have a protective little band on it so I can't put any lego caps on it, which is fine. It feels good. Also its not a repair, its a new unit, the serial number is different. Anyway just thought I let yall know TE is making things right for the broken fader gang. This "gen 2" pressing seems like they addressed the issue.
Then they still intend for knob installation. Just slip off the piece of tubing that they used for shipping protection and go crazy with your Lego choice. Have fun!
Did it still come with the knob to put on the fader?

It is 100% just there to disperse pressure during shipping to the face plate of the unit vs. the fader cartridge itself to avoid damage. They still intend for you to put the knob on that's why it was still included. No I do not work for TE. I get the fear of potentially damaging your replacement though.
