I am a contract technician at a club inside a historic Venue (will remain anonymous for privacyās sake). Iāve been the main technician since February when they began efforts to reopen. Since I took over as their āaudio guyā, Iāve been struggling to staff the club when I canāt be there or when I need extra technicians. One of the managers overstepped their bounds and brought on another tech who in turn has helped me staff the venue (more on that in a bit). But the last month or so Iāve taken more of a TD role, answering technical questions about the venue, making equipment suggestions, helping coordinate the technical aspects of events, etc. How do I approach the matter of asking for either an official title (or something similar) or a pay raise if it wonāt negatively impact the technical staff. Iāve never been in a position to ask that and Iām nervous to rock the boat.
The other technician isnāt officially recognized by management and they have been confused by all the random invoices they are receiving. Today kinda came to a head and we will be discussing this tomorrow. I want to advocate to keep more techs around, but I want to ensure they are paid appropriately. Any suggestions for ways to approach this?
