I've had my laptop, a Predator Helios 300, for a couple years now and it's had this problem consistently almost the entire time. I currently have Windows 11 but it happened on Windows 10 as well. A friend of mine who is a lot better with computers than I am tried to help a while back to no avail and in the last 3-4 months or so I've been trying to get rid of the issue for good but have only succeeded in fixing it for a couple weeks at most.
I've tried every fix listed on this article at least once https://www.thewindowsclub.com/power-plan-keeps-changing-on-windows-10 as well as trying to change basically any setting that seemed related to power plans. The only thing that I know for sure worked even temporarily was clean booting my laptop and disabling services until it stopped. I've disabled a couple of things that may have been what got rid of the issue for at least a little bit including "Restoro active protection" (another thing I tried to use to fix this), "AVG tools", "Easy Anti Cheat", and "NVIDIA Display Container LS" but every time i've seen any success it eventually started happening again.
Some more specifics on the symptoms, it tends to happen when I start playing a videogame I.E Hearthstone, League of Legends, Fortnite etc. OR when I full screen a video on Discord and what it does specifically is change my current power plan from Balanced to High Power mode. The symptoms have actually changed over time as well, it used to switch to High Power Mode and i could just switch back to balanced and it would only be a slight annoyance but as of late it switches back to Balanced Mode on its own when i got to the Power Options menu and changes back when i go to whatever program was causing it which is what has led me to try much harder to fix this problem then i did when i originally noticed it. Yesterday was the most recent time it happened and it was while i was playing League and during the game it would switch back and forth between power plans over and over and every time it did i would drop frames which made the game unplayable.
The biggest reason i want this fixed i because ever since i got this laptop i noticed it ran rather hot even while idling and to fix it i customized the setting for the Balanced Power Plan to keep my laptop cool but when it's in High Power Mode it immediately gets up to 200° which i don't think i need any background in computers to recognize as a bad thing. Thanks in advance to anyone who took the time to read any of this.
