I got a 2TB Seagate Expansion hard drive and my Mac says it’s uninitialised. It’s my school hard drive so ALL of my projects are on it (I know I‘m stupid to not have a backup but I didn’t have the money for another one). It’s around a year old so I don’t know what happened.
I tried: using another cable, using a different hub, a different slot, made a software update, didn’t work. The HDD sounds normal. I compared it to another one that is working fine and they sound the same.
It connects to both windows and Mac but Mac says it’s uninitiated, first aid says everything is fine. It won’t show up on windows, only on a data recovery program. The data recovery program says there is a sector error (the program stopped after a while every time with an error and so I gave up).
I talked to a company that repairs hard drives but it would be around 500€ and again, I‘m a student, I don’t have the money for something like this. Please tell me my stuff isn’t lost. I just bought another hard drive to pay in instalments, this time an SSD. I should‘ve done it sooner… my graduation project is partly on there…. It worked on Thursday and stopped working on the same day for whatever reason.
