What's going on:
Whenever I start up a game, like Apex Legends, Subnautica, or Call of Duty, the monitor will go black and give me the "no input detected" message as soon as I try to move past the initial menu (the first 'continue' screen in apex, selecting a game mode in CoD, or selecting 'survival, hardcore, etc.' in subnautica). During this screen disconnect, the PC stays running, and the audio can still be heard from applications like Discord, but not from the game being run. If left alone, the PC will restart after about 30-60 seconds. When not attempting to start a game, the PC runs smoothly for all day to day tasks, including streaming videos, and running low-intensity games like Final Fantasy X.
This issue just started a few days ago after no issues for the previous lifetime of the PC (approximately 14 months). The first crash happened in the middle of a game of Apex Legends, and no new hardware or updates had been recently installed.
What I've tried:
I've ensured all connections are secure, and replaced cables where possible (display port to monitor, cable to power supply).
I've tried running on a separate monitor with all peripherals disconnected or replaced. RAM has been replaced, but all other components have been left alone.
Compressed air has been run throughout the system to clear out any potential dust buildup, and no overheating has been present. Fans have been stable at 50-60%, with a temperature staying around 65 C. Air cooled, no water.
Games have been tested with all drivers (BIOS, Windows, devices, and Nvidia) up to date, rolled back, and then updated again, including a full factory reset of the PC. Crash originally occurred on Windows 10. Windows 11 was installed and crashes persisted. All updates reapplied on windows 11.
Games have been tried through Steam, Origin, battle .net, and the EA app, all with attempted file repair, uninstallation, and reinstallation.
Crash logs have been checked, and nothing is being reported outside of the kernelpower error when the PC has to be force shutdown.
Stress tests, such as FurMark, have run fine. The screen and PC will run smoothly if the game is minimized before loading into any menu.
The Specs:
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 3700x 8-Core 3.59 GHz
OS: Windows 11 Home, 64 bit, Version 21H2
Memory: 1TB Samsung 980 Pro 4.0 SSD, with backup 1TB HD
RAM: Corsair Vengeance PRO 32GB, DDR4, 3200 MHz
GPU: Nvidia GEFORCE RTX 2060
Monitor: Primary is MSi 165 Hz, 4k Display Port, Secondary is LG 75 Hz on HDMI
PSU: 500W
Thanks in advance for any help. Current top theories are power supply, which has run the PC fine for the last year and a half with no issues and no component changes have occurred, or GPU failure. Wanted to check with everyone here before any moves since replacing the GPU would be a huge expense.
