Help my mic on my headset isn't working after i plugged tv into my computer

I decided to use this old HD tv I have as a second monitor for my computer I plugged in my headset and went on to discord to talk with some friends. I can hear them all perfectly and can hear everything on my computer but for some reason, my mic isn't working. I have tried going into the control panel and going to audio devices and it says my audio is working but my mic is not. my headset is an audio jack plugged into a split audio/mic cord (not 3rd party it came with a headset) and I also tried plugging it out and in again to no avail. can someone help me fix this problem?
