What is the worst that can happen for disabling VPN?

Post Body
I'm talking to a person on the internet who is telling me to join something like a private site he has. He sent a link but everytime I try it, I get error 404. Then he asked me if I was using VPN and then asked me to disable it. So, I'd like to know what risks I would be dealing with if I accepted his request, since he doesn't look like he got bad intentions but if the risks are not "acceptable" I obviously don't want to expose myself to it.
Thanks for help in advance!
