Aging dad w mild dementia kn supported housing: remote laptop tv setup to turn on his shows and play movies?

Post Body

Hi all, so my dear friends aging dad is 83 and has mild dementia and difficulty walking and using his hands. He lives in supported housing. He really enjoys watching different shows when his adult daughter and son visit and set up the tv and channel for him, and the assistants at the care home also help him. However they arent always visiting and the staff arent with him all day.

We were wondering if there is some remote login solution we could set up where say a laptop on 24/7 with an external monitor or apple TV or something could help. So his kids could call him up and he says he wants to watch this show or that movie, then we take control of his computer and launch the streaming service and connect it to the external flatscreen and then he can watch his show.

Has anyone ever heard of such a setup? Could we also set it up so they can launch zoom and answer zoom calls for him so they can talk with him?

He just cant focus his mind or manage he hand eye motor coordination well enough to do it himself and that means he only really gets to watch his shows when someone visits. Even a remote is too complex for him.

Thanks for ideas!
